About Perdana University

Perdana University, an initiative between Academic Medical Centre Sdn Bhd and the Public-Private Partnership Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department, was officially launched in 2011. The current Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was the Founding Chancellor of the University. This strong partnership with the Malaysian government means that we are committed to delivering programs of exceptional quality. With world-renowned institutions, agencies, and organizations as our partners, Perdana University offers premier programs of quality that are benchmarked against international standards. As we are committed to excellence in all our endeavors, we ensure that all our programs meet the requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and other professional accrediting agencies.

The Perdana University Library is a central resource for research and knowledge discovery. Its design is supplemented by a collection of e-books and online databases while maintaining a collection of core textbooks and reference works in printed copies. The E-Library is equipped with 50 computers with internet access and is highly in demand by students for listening to self-study, and access to online materials. The online learning resources and our library facilities support independent study. Perdana University has two Clinical Academic Centres located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and Seremban respectively. These centers facilitate clinical tutorial sessions for students who undergo clinical postings at the General Hospitals of Kuala Lumpur and Seremban. The centers are also used for examinations for medical students of Perdana University.

As this time may be full of challenges, the Counselling Unit of Perdana University provides students with guidance and support. Counseling involves the professional relationship between an individual and a professional counselor who will guide the individual on the matter at hand. Students are assured that all communication with the Counselling Unit will be handled with the strictest confidentiality.

Perdana University Centre for Research Excellence (PU-CRE) organizes the Perdana University Research Day annually to promote research among students. At the event, students present their research output and progress. Students and staff will also have the opportunity to participate in other research-related activities such as research talks, ethics awareness, and responsible conduct of research sessions. Student research excellence awards are also presented categorically. The opening of Perdana University and the medical program was officiated by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Najib Razak while the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was appointed as its Founding Chancellor.[2] Dato’ Pahlawan Dr. R. Mohana Dass served as the founding Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the Perdana University.

The Perdana University previously operated from an interim campus in the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). The University has since then been relocated to Wisma Chase Perdana, Damansara Heights in 2020. Following Reasons Set this Program Apart From Others in Malaysia and Region

The PU-RCSI program is the only 5-year Irish medical program completed wholly in Malaysia with the majority of the academic team (leads) being from Ireland. The program fulfills the World Federation of Medical Education standards and confers the primary degrees of the National University of Ireland (NUI), Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in the Art of Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO); and awards the licentiates of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (LRCP & S(I)).

Students learn via an innovative approach to building effective communication and clinical skills, first from simulated patients, and later from real patients and their families in both hospital and community environments. The program accords an affordable tuition fee – less than half of what it would cost doing the program in Ireland/ England/ Australia. The University provides transportation services for students to travel between the campus and hostel. This bus service applies only to students residing at PU’s designated hostel. These bus services will only be allocated once the Student Services Department has received the Transportation Application Form and payment receipt.
